Norwich mystery death as body of man seen carrying large black holdall pulled from river

The unexplained death of a guy whose body was recovered from a river after he was last seen with a big black satchel has prompted an investigation. At 4.25 a.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the River Wensum close to the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge in Norwich after receiving reports that a man had fallen into the water.The man, who was in his 40s, was pulled from the river by police, fire, and ambulance when they arrived on the scene.

The man passed away shortly after being taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.Although his identity has not yet been made public, Norfolk Police have notified his relatives. Since his death is still being considered unexplained, police have opened an investigation. As they attempt to determine how the man got into the river in the first place, police are hoping to talk to anyone who was around at the time.

“An Asian man, of slim build, and around 5ft 9 tall” is how the man is described. He was dressed in a black wide-brimmed hat, black pants, and a black North Face puffer jacket. He also had a big black holdall with him. Norfolk Police issued a statement on Sunday requesting witnesses, saying: “Anyone who may have been in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of yesterday and who may have seen anyone, or who has relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage is asked to contact Norfolk Police via any of the following channels quoting CAD 53 of January 11.”
