Everton set to appoint 55-year-old in new West Brom manager contention.

West Brom are ready to lose Billy McKinlay to Everton, according to The Times. On 11 January, the newspaper stated on their website that McKinlay was in contention to become the Baggies’ new head coach following Carlos Corberan’s departure. However, David Moyes aims to have the 55-year-old join his backroom team after succeeding Sean Dyche as Everton’s manager.

West Brom to hire Raphael Wicky as Carlos Corberan replacement

Albion have been without a head coach since Corberan’s transfer to Valencia was revealed on Christmas Eve, with Chris Brunt serving as interim manager. The West Midlands club has since been connected with a number of managers, with negotiations underway with a few. They appear to have settled on Raphael Wicky as their best choice to replace Corberan, and have begun preliminary negotiations with him [The Telegraph]. Wicky has emerged as the Baggies’ primary target after impressing them during talks in London this week. It remains to be seen if and when the Championship team will shake hands with the former Young Boys manager and make an announcement.

He may be in charge of the team in time for their home game against Stoke City next Saturday (19 January).
