Dave Portnoy slams ‘worst call of all time’ after Commanders’ win

The Commanders narrowly defeated the Buccaneers in their Wild Card game on Sunday night, and Barstool’s Dave Portnoy did not think Washington’s team broadcast lived up to the event.

Zane Gonzalez made a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the visitors the victory, but it was not easy because his shot touched the inside of the upright before going in.

Commanders announcers Bram Weinstein and London Fletcher failed to convey this truth while they celebrated the victory, and Portnoy chastised them as a result.

Is this the worst big game call ever? He commented on X in response to a video of the call. ‘They made it sound as if Zane smacked it dead centre.

They didn’t even mention the doink. F-minus call.’ To Portnoy’s point, colour commentator Weinstein just stated that the kick was ‘excellent’ before remarking on the team’s poise in close games.

The cardiac Commanders are the clutch Commanders. ‘They do it again, we’ll see you in Detroit,’ he warned.

Fletcher, who had a long NFL career as a linebacker and spent seven years with Washington, also commented, but did not explain how the kick went in.

Zane Gonzalez kicks in the door and propels us to the second round of the playoffs!,’ he exclaimed. Meanwhile, Mike Tirico mentioned the ‘doink’ off the upright during his game call on NBC.

‘They doink their way to the divisional round!,’ he screamed, as Cris Collinsworth was heard giggling at the bizarre play. The Commanders will travel to Detroit this weekend to face the No. 1 seeded Lions on Saturday.

Portnoy was riled up by more than just Weinstein and Fletcher’s call of Gonzalez’s game-winning touchdown during the NFL’s Wild Card weekend.

Justin Herbert and the Chargers lost 32-12 to the Texans, and the quarterback had his worst game of the season, completing only 43.8 percent of his throws and throwing four interceptions. He had only thrown three picks during the regular season.

‘I am so sick of Justin Herbert, people sucking his d***,’ he stated in a video uploaded on X. ‘It sounds like this kid is a young gun quarterback.’

‘Go back on everything I said; he sucks. I don’t care what instruments he carries. What is the obsession with this f***ing guy? He sucked at Oregon, and the team grew worse,’ he added.

‘He was supposed to be the first draft pick [and] fell because people looked at him and said, ‘Hey, this kid may f***ing suck.’ Houston will now meet the Chiefs on Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET.
