Crystal Palace boss responds to Blackburn Rovers transfer interest
Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has downplayed the likelihood that Jeffrey Schlupp will leave in January.
Among the teams interested in a deal for the 32-year-old are Blackburn Rovers. The two teams have been in talks, according to a report from the Lancashire Telegraph last week, although it is not anticipated that the negotiations would move forward swiftly.
Schlupp featured in their FA Cup victory over Stockport County on Saturday, but Glasner is still eager to keep him and claims he hasn’t had to leave. However, he did admit that he could like to play more and on a longer contract somewhere else.
Glasner told South London Press, “We don’t have a lot of outfield players, so I want to keep the squad together.”
“We have 21, including [Matheus] Franca. He is also now out again and we don’t know if he is available [until] spring [time].
It indicates that there aren’t many players available. Jeffrey can play a variety of positions, and I truly value his experience.
We needed a left-footed wing-back to play crosses today because Tyrick Mitchell is terribly sick; he can play there. He is capable of playing in the ten. He is capable of playing midfield.
He can play practically anywhere because of his extensive experience. However, Schluppy’s contract expires in the summer, and he is currently 32.
“He will come [and inform me] if he wants to have a change with two or three years on a contract.Nobody has arrived and shown a desire to depart, which is really encouraging.
