The Championship outings, including three away from home, brought a return of five points from a possible 12 to remain sixth as things stand.

 

Brunt’s permanent role is loans manager at The Hawthorns as he oversees players, especially young talents, with their deals away from the club. He assists with academy coaching when required and admits the period at the helm has been an intense whirlwind.

 

Asked if he will assist Wicky when any appointment is confirmed, the Northern Irishman said: “It’s not really something we’ve spoken about. I was just asked to help out for as long as needs be.

 

“I’m sure I’ll be back to my desk job when and if the new man comes in. We’ll see what happens.”
