SOPHIE | WE WANT TO BE COMPETITIVE

Sophie Peskett is excited to go head-to-head with Women’s Super League giants Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Town Women’s top goal scorer fired her side to a 1-0 victory against AFC Bournemouth to set up the fourth round tie at the Joie Stadium, following victories against MK Dons

and Hashtag United in the previous two rounds.

Sophie was also involved in Town’s last trip to Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup back in 2020, with the winger determined for a more competitive match this time

around.

Sophie said: “It’s going to be a tough game but we’re really looking forward to it.

“As an individual I am really excited to see how far I have come since the last time we played them.

“I’ve gone through a lot since then and have grown as a player and a person, so I’m looking forward to soaking the experience up.

“I was around 16 or 17 years old on our last trip there and I have had a lot of different experiences since then, including a 14-month injury and playing at Portman Road.  I also

think I have learned loads tactically, and have come a long way physically as well.

“We are not naive and we know it’s going to be a really difficult game, but we want to be competitive and show the best versions of ourselves.  We are in football to be involved in

games like this and all of us want to play at that top level one day.

“I am going to take in everything I can, learn as much as possible and try to enjoy the occasion.”

Kick-off for Town’s FA Cup clash is at 1pm, with the match available to watch live on the Adobe Women’s FA Cup YouTube channel and FA Player.
