Seven persons have been arrested as part of an investigation into prescription medicine theft at East Lancashire pharmacies.
Officers conducted search warrants in Blackburn, Nelson, and Barnoldswick early this morning (November 25), seizing mobile phones, class B and C drugs, cash, and designer items.
The Lancashire Telegraph joined police from Lancashire Constabulary at the warrant in Nelson to witness the operation firsthand.
As a result of the warrant, the following individuals have been detained and remain in custody:
A 32-year-old woman from Nelson was detained on charges of employee theft and conspiracy to distribute class B and C drugs.
A 29-year-old man from Nelson was detained on charges of employee theft and conspiracy to supply Class B and C drugs.
A 32-year-old woman from Nelson was detained on charges of employee theft, conspiracy to supply Class B and C drugs, and money laundering.
A 23-year-old male from Barnoldswick was detained on suspicion of theft by an employee, conspiracy to provide Class B and C drugs, and money laundering.
A 21-year-old male from Nelson was detained on charges of employee theft and conspiracy to supply Class B and C drugs.
A 24-year-old male from Nelson has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to provide Class B and C narcotics.
A 35-year-old man from Blackburn was detained on suspicion of employee theft and conspiracy to provide Class B and C drugs.
The investigation is into the purported theft of prescription drugs worth £350,000 from two pharmacies in Pendle and Rossendale.
DS Josh Boswell, of Burnley CID, commented: “I welcome these arrests which are the result of the tenacity of the investigation team and mark a significant point in what remains a complex investigation.”
