January signings: Three more through the door
Blackburn Rovers Women are thrilled to announce the signings of Macy Settle, Lucy Newell, and Bonnie Davies.
These three players will increase the squad’s competitiveness and give First Team Manager Simon Parker more
options. Attacker, Bonnie Davies, comes to Rovers from Brisbane, Australia, where she played for Brisbane Roar FC.
Prior to joining the team, she played for Newcastle Jets, and in 2023, she played in Queensland for Peninsula Power
FC in the NPL, scoring an incredible 26 goals in 25 games.
Davies, who is originally from Tasmania, has previously played for Heidelberg United in Victoria, South Hobart, and
Olympia FC Warriors in her native state.
Bonnie is making her first move to the UK, and Rovers are thrilled to have her join the team and hope she can
contribute positively for the rest of the campaign.
Lucy Newell, a defender, comes from Manchester United, where she inked her first professional deal in October.
Following in the footsteps of Keira Barry and Alyssa Aherne, Newell was a member of United’s academy system.
The England Under-19 international joined United’s academy after rising through the ranks at West Brom, and she
was dual registered with United throughout the 2023–2024 season before agreeing to a professional contract.
Newell also won the Women’s Academy Players’ Player of the Year award for the 2023/24 season and has already
been capped at international level with England’s Under-19s.
Newell’s contract will see her play for us on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 season and we are please to have her join the squad.
Macy Settle returns to the club on a dual registration contract from Everton, which will also see her play in the Blue
and White colours until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Everyone at Rovers wishes all three signings a warm welcome and are excited to see them play in the blue & white halves.
Fans can anticipate watching these talented players in action at Ewood Park as the new season draws near. Half
Season tickets for the 2024–25 season are also on sale, with all Rovers home league games to be played at Ewood
Park. The new additions to the team bring Women’s Championship and international experience, which will be a
strong addition to Rovers Women. Rovers are looking to pick up where they left off before the winter break and
continue their good form, starting with a Fourth Round FA Cup game against Portsmouth on Wednesday evening.
