Southampton’s Kamaldeen reportedly top target for Italian club
SAINTS winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is apparently getting attention from Serie A club Genoa, with an Italian magazine stating he is their top target.
Genoa, 13th in the Italian top division, are thought to be in the market for a wide man this month and might attempt to recruit Ghana international Kamaldeen from Southampton.
The 22 year winger has started twice for Saints this season, the first of which saw him hauled after 15 minutes against Spurs with his team already 3-0 dow.
Italian daily DiMarzio indicate that Kamaldeen is Genoa’s favorite choice but no formal contact has been made.
Saints coach Ivan Juric is a fan of Kamaldeen and gave him his second start of the season in the 5-0 loss at Brentford.
The Croatian boss has made frequent mention of the former Rennes striker and emphasized that Kamaldeen has been working hard despite prior claims that was his problem.
Kamaldeen has been with Southampton since the winter transfer window of 2022, when he arrived from Ligue 1 side Rennes for a club record sum, thought to be up to £23.5million.
He has yet to get going on the south coast and has not scored since his brace against Liverpool on the penultimate day of the 2022/23 season.
The 19-time Ghana international has agreed to join Ajax on loan in the summer but the Dutch giants failed to complete the legal work before the deadline.
