Derby County’s Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle have appointed Miron Muslic as their new head coach.
Argyle confirmed his arrival in a statement this morning with Muslic succeeding ex-Rams chief Wayne Rooney who left the club via mutual consent last month. Muslic, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, was recently the manager of Cercle Brugge where he won 43 of 101 games in charge.
He took the Belgian side from a lowly domestic position to European football and has previously managed Austrian sides Ried and Floridsdorfer AC. Muslic fended off serious competition for the job with former boss Steven Schumacher soaring towards the top of the bookmakers’ odds prior to the announcement.
Chairman Simon Hallett said: “Miron had a clear vision of how he wanted to take Argyle forward and showed a depth of tactical awareness that made it clear exactly how he wanted the team to set up and play.
“He comes with glowing reviews from his time at Cercle Brugge where he took a team from a lowly league position to European football which is no mean feat. I want to welcome him to the club and look forward to seeing him have an immediate impact on the team.”
Muslic inherits a Plymouth side that are rock-bottom of the Championship but they are just three points off safety.
