The Black Cats have been tracking Le Fee in recent days, fending off interest from Spanish clubs Real Betis and Sevilla.
Both clubs may provide the midfielder La Liga football, but he has expressed a desire to reconcile with former Lorient manager Regis Le Bris at Sunderland and flew to England earlier this week.
He had his medical and completed the loan process. And, according to French newspaper Le Parisien, Le Fee has now’signed’ his contract with Sunderland to finalise the transfer.
He will remain with Sunderland until the conclusion of the season, and if the Black Cats earn promotion to the Premier League, he will join on a permanent basis. Le Fee joined Roma last summer from French club Rennes.
He struggled to make an impact in Italy, and Roma are eager for him to leave during this month’s transfer window.
