Why Paul Mullin must get ‘p*ssed off’ to rediscover goal form – with Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney favourite at Wrexham lacking confidence at League One level.
Paul Mullin has been urged to become “p*ssed off” more frequently at Wrexham because he looks to lack confidence at League One level.
What happened?
The 30-year-old forward has played a significant role in the Red Dragons’ rapid ascension from the National League to the third tier of English football. He has 109 goals for the Welsh team in 165 matches, although just four have been recorded this season.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mullin has battled for consistency as a frequent replacement, unable to build on his magnificent score in a 2-1 victory against Blackpool on Boxing Day.
Mullin, a favorite of Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has a strong pedigree. However, legendary Wrexham striker Andy Morrell explains on the Fearless In Devotion podcast why he is currently struggling. “He needed a goal, and then he got one, he hit a joke of a goal [against Blackpool] and you think ‘here we go’, and then it just doesn’t seem to be happening for him,” he says. He’s playing quite a ways away from Ollie Palmer, and it doesn’t appear to be working as well as it did in past seasons.”
