Sky Sports Robin Propper raves about one Rangers star who creates ‘a lot of danger’.
Rangers appeared to be reuniting in some ways during the summer transfer window of 2024.
After joining from FC Twente for £1.5 million, Robin Propper shared the dressing room alongside Cyriel Dessers for the second time. Propper was a colleague of Dessers at Heracles when Rangers’ number nine won the Eredivisie Golden Boot in 2020.
The seasoned center-back left to join FC Twente, where he worked alongside Vaclav Cerny.
Propper admitted that he chatted with Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny before signing at Ibrox a few months ago. The opportunity to rejoin with two players he knows well from the Eredivisie was undoubtedly appealing to the 31-year-old Dutchman.
In January, Propper praised Cerny, Dessers, and former FC Twente loanee Danilo for their contributions to Rangers’ 2024/25 season.
Robin Propper praises three Rangers teammates as Vaclav Cerny impresses.
“We certainly do stuff together. Propper tells De Telegraaf he enjoys speaking Dutch on occasion. “Vaclav is doing well here. He is the club’s leading scorer [in the Premiership], and he causes a lot of danger.
“And Cyriel and Danilo have also scored quite a few goals.”
Dessers may have lost his spot to Hamza Igamane, but the Nigeria international remains Rangers’ top scorer in all competitions, with 12 goals. Danilo has six in only 14 games, putting his injury problems behind him as he sealed Rangers’ sensational 3-0 victory over Old Firm rivals Celtic last week.
Cerny and Danilo, who had a strong relationship at Twente in 2020/21, reunited for a 1-0 win over Dundee just before Christmas.
Cerny is just five goals away from having the most productive season of his professional career. Cerny’s future at Rangers is unknown, with parent club Wolfsburg looking to return their £7 million investment.

Robin wants a Propper farewell at Eredivisie club FC Twente.
Propper, the former Twente captain, says he did not intend to join Rangers when the window opened last summer. The opportunity to play in a foreign league for the first time – despite being on the wrong side of 30 – was something Propper felt he couldn’t pass up at this point in his career, as he follows his former team closely from the other side of the Channel.
“I follow [Twente] as much as possible, although that is not always possible because we play a match every three or four days,” Propper says. “I thoroughly loved the match versus Manchester United. That was very fantastic.”
Twente’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, sealed with a goal from former Rangers misfit Sam Lammers, appears to be the highlight of their Europa League season. Despite only losing twice, Twente is 30th in a 32-team league, having drawn four of their six games.
Twente, ranked sixth in the Eredivisie, are well positioned to make a continental comeback in 2025, with Propper admitting that he would want to return for a proper farewell after being pushed out the door in August.
“I think they are doing well, considering that they are playing a double programme for the first time with the European matches,” prodded Propper. “I believe FC Twente has more lovely moments ahead of them this season.
“It’s unfortunate that, due to our hectic schedule, I haven’t had the opportunity to return for a goodbye at the Grolsch Veste. But that will undoubtedly happen at some time.
