Saints’ Fantasy preview: Track recruit, is young star set for breakout year?
The Saints are shaping as being hugely Fantasy relevant again in 2025
Despite finishing 12th on the ladder, St Kilda was once again a very relevant Fantasy club last season, with the most 100-plus scores of any team.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (DEF, $1,003,000) had his greatest season to date, averaging 98. Rookie Darcy Wilson (MID/FWD, $671,000) proved to be one of the best cash cows for the year, averaging 65. Wilson concluded the year in style, scoring 91 and 100 in his final two games, repaying the coaches that stuck with him throughout the season.
Brad Hill (MID/FWD, $762,000) had a successful 13th AFL season, with one of his highest Fantasy scores of 150. That was his second 150-point performance, coming against the Giants in round five with 33 disposals and 13 marks.
The Saints are a high-scoring Fantasy club that enjoys possessing the ball. If this type of play continues into 2025, we may see more players have breakout seasons and career-best years.

Lock them in.
Rowan Marshall (RUC, $1,201,000) is the highest-averaging player in the game and the most expensive player in 2025.
Don’t allow the price discourage you from starting with the great guy. He averaged 117 last season, and 116 the year before. This is what he can accomplish.
You might even argue that Marshall is underpriced given on how he finished 2024, averaging 125 in his final ten games. With scores of 171 and 164 this season, he’s a walk-on captain option, the No.1 choice on draft day, and a player worth your money.
Track their preseason.
Repeat after me. “Jack Macrae (FWD, $732,000) is a midfielder” … Let’s hope Ross Lyons agrees, since Luke Beverage didn’t.
The trouble is, with Brad Crouch’s retirement, who else is there to assist Jack Steele? Last year, Paddy Dow and Marcus Windhager were next in line for midfield minutes, and Macrae’s addition will undoubtedly change that.
Macrae averaged only 71 last season, well shy of his previous 110-plus seasons. Keep an eye on his pre-season and see whether he gets enough midfield action at St Kilda. A 95 percent or higher average is not impossible.
Dual-position tempter.
Jack Sinclair (DEF/MID, $1,046,000) is a proven performer. He averaged 102, 102, and 103 over the previous three seasons. Sinclair’s scoring rate remains consistent whether he plays in the center or across halfback. In games where he did not go into the middle, he averaged 103, demonstrating that this man can get the job done from anywhere.
Bargain basement
Tobie Travaglia (DEF/MID, $319,000) was selected with the eighth choice in the Telstra AFL Draft.
Travaglia succeeded as a defender in 2024, averaging 101 points in the Coates Talent League. He even managed two games against bigger bodies in the VFL, scoring 55 and 71 late in the season. He is currently a member of a squad whose roles are rather uncertain. Travaglia has the potential to be an interesting prospect if he can join Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera in the back.
This child is expected to play the first round.
Custom Stat Star
In 2024, Jack Steele (MID, $1,094,000) attended 85 percent of St Kilda’s center bounces, making him the team’s focal point. Steele averaged an astounding 107 points per game courtesy to his tackling game, which saw him lay 7.3 times per game, ranking fourth in the League.
Steele landed 15 tackles in Round 12, falling shy of his career best of 18 tackles in 2019.
Buyers beware.
Callum Wilkie (DEF, $758,000) goes on hot spots that you should ignore.
Don’t get me wrong, Wilkie is a fantastic player who, on his best day, can score in double figures, as he did seven times last season. But then some Fantasy coaches are duped.
He scored 135 and 99 out of a possible 26 points toward the end of the previous season. However, the next week, he scored 36. Defenders like these are excessively hot and cold and should be avoided.
