Chris Davies snubbed again despite Birmingham City’s near-perfect month

Despite Birmingham City having an almost flawless month in League One, Chris Davies has once again failed to win the Manager of the Month accolade. With five victories and a draw from their six December fixtures, the Blues finished 2024 atop the League One standings. Blackpool earned a point from their December 29 trip to St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, making them the only team to escape loss to the Blues.

However, Davies has lost to someone else for the Manager of the Month accolade for the second time this season. Richie Wellens, the manager of Leyton Orient, has won the trophy after his team moved up to eighth place with 16 points from their six games in December.

Without giving up a goal, Orient defeated Bristol Rovers, Wigan, Barnsley, Crawley, and Cambridge in convincing fashion. With victories over Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury in the New Year, the O’s have maintained their strong play. At this point, Davies had lost out on the prize three times. In August, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson beat him to it, and in September, when the Blues won every league game, Blackpool manager Steve Bruce beat him to it.

Additionally, Miles Leaburn of Charlton won Player of the Month instead of Jay Stansfield. Leaburn took home the prize with four goals and two assists in his six games in December, although Stansfield scored five goals, including game-winning goals away to Barnsley and Crawley.
