B B C Sports” ‘Liam Delap to leave Ipswich Town’ after Chelsea reveal – Stefan Borson.

Ipswich Town star Liam Delap is likely to leave the club in the summer transfer window as Manchester City decide whether or not to trigger his buy-back clause.

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes there will be a lot of interesting in the 21-year-old after his remarkable success this season. Delap joined Ipswich last summer for £20 million after his opportunities at Manchester City were limited. The two parties agreed on a buy-back clause worth roughly £30 million for the England Under-21 international. The attacker has eight goals and two assists in 19 Premier League outings since moving to Portman Road. On November 27, Football Insider stated that Chelsea is interested in Delap as a way to strengthen their offensive options.

Borson believes Manchester City has likely ensured that the buy-back provision puts them in a great position to re-sign their former youth product in the summer. He told Football Insider: “There is a concern about how you execute a deal in which you try to successfully sign a player, transfer him on immediately, and benefit from both moves. “Alternatively, you make a deal with Ipswich that basically gives them the chance to buy out the buy-back clause in the agreement. “Historically, the City has not done many of these deals. They did buy-backs on players like Douglas Luiz when he moved to Aston Villa, and another on Angelino, when they made a rapid profit after buying him back.

“They’ve done it previously, but it’s not that simple, and we’re not sure what the particular clause is in relation to Delap. We’re not sure how much freedom Delap has to refuse the relocation. “You’d think City would have made certain they had control of the situation, but you don’t know until you read the individual clauses.

“But the basic line is, it appears that there is already a significant profit in that transaction, and City will not overlook that fact. I believe it is for the summer, but it appears that he will be moving from Ipswich.
