Why Jaden Philogene chose Ipswich Town over Everton should speak volumes for The Friedkin Group

Everton are aiming to strengthen their offensive options this month, with goals being their major concern.

While Sean Dyche’s team has been sturdy at the defense this season, they have struggled in the attacking third.

In January, the Friedkin Group aims to add a new midfielder and striker as major priorities.

Only Southampton has scored less goals in the Premier League this season than Everton (15).

Everton expressed interest in Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene this month, but the youngster seems to be moving on.

The Friedkin Group would benefit from understanding the logic behind his choice.

Jaden Philogene chose to join Ipswich over Everton.

Everton have had a long-standing interest in Philogene, with the club keeping an eye on the teenage winger since last summer.

His stint at Villa Park has not gone as planned, and he is now preparing to attempt something new only months after returning to his previous club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Philogene’s choice to join Ipswich was heavily influenced by a phone contact with manager Kieran McKenna.

Interestingly, Romano reported that Everton had made a ‘significant offer’ for the winger, but his choice had already been made.

Philogene will get a physical at Portman Road on Thursday ahead of a projected £21 million relocation.

Everton manager Kevin Thelwell admired Philogene, but his team lost against a direct relegation foe.

Everton delayed the transfer window by retaining Sean Dyche.

Dyche’s status at the club remains shrouded in mystery, as the Blues struggle to escape the relegation zone.

Everton also missed the fight to get Graham Potter, with the 49-year-old likely to join West Ham United.

Fans will now ponder if they could have signed Philogene if the club had hired a different management.

Dyche has faced criticism for his handling of the summer arrivals, with six new faces scarcely making an impression despite Everton’s troubles.

Clearly, Philogene thought what McKenna might give him in Ipswich was more tempting.
