Is Sheffield United v Cardiff City on TV? Kick-off time and how to watch FA Cup fixture

All you need to know ahead of the FA Cup match between the Blades and the Bluebirds.

Sheffield United will face Cardiff City in an FA Cup third round clash at Bramall Lane this evening.

The two sides meet again less than three weeks after the Blades won 2-0 in South Wales, with Kieffer Moore scoring twice against his previous employers. This is their fifth meeting in the FA Cup, and United has won three of the previous four.
United has advanced to the third round six times in a row against a team from their own division. Cardiff’s record against Yorkshire teams is also not good, having lost seven of the last nine games. Their only victories throughout that time came against Leeds United in 2002 and Barnsley in the semi-finals in 2008.

When is Sheffield United v Cardiff City?

Sheffield United and Cardiff City will face off at Bramall Lane on Thursday, January 9. Kick-off is at 19.00 GMT, and the game is being played on an uncommon day of the week to allow for television coverage.
Only the John Street Family Stand and the South Stand are open to home supporters. Seats were not reserved for season ticket holders because not all stands were available, therefore it was a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tickets cost £15 for adults, £10 for concessions, and £5 for those under the age of 18. Anyone who purchases will receive 150 loyalty points. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Ticket Office, via phone at 0114 253 7200 (Option 1), or securely online.

No away fans will be able to purchase tickets on the day of the game. On Wednesday, January 8, at 17:00 GMT, tickets went off sale.

How can I watch the game?

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on BBC One Wales, iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website. Anyone outside of Wales with a Sky box can see BBC One Wales on channel 965 on Sky and 864 on Virgin Media. Coverage will begin at 18:45 GMT, with team news coming an hour before kickoff.

Sheffield United v Cardiff City team news

Kieffer Moore remains uncertain after missing the trip to Watford due to illness. Chris Wilder referred to him as ‘touch and go’. Gus Hamer was checked after walking off gently on Vicarage Road, but he has been cleared and is well. Tom Davies, Callum O’Hare, and numerous other players will be closely scrutinized.

Both sides have significant injury lists, so more than a dozen players may miss out. The hosts will be without Harry Souttar, Ollie Arblaster, and Sai Sachdev for the remainder of the season. Tyrese Campbell, Femi Seriki, Jamie Shackleton, Vini Souza, and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi are all likely to miss out.

Cardiff’s Aaron Ramsey and David Turnbull are not likely to play until at least March. Both are struggling with hamstring ailments, and Turnbull needed surgery.

Isaak Davies is still healing from a hamstring injury sustained during the preseason, but he has returned to training. Roko Simic, who signed in the summer, has returned from a loan at KV Kortrijk but is unlikely to play. Anwar El Ghazi has been out with a hip injury.

Referee

The referee is Adam Herczeg, who will be aided by Darren Williams and Adam Nichol, with Scott Tallis serving as the fourth official. Herczeg has primarily refereed in League One this season, overseeing 10 games, but he has also officiated in two Champions League matches.

He’s officiated 19 games, issuing 68 yellow cards and two red cards. Herczeg has also assessed three fines.
