‘He has no future’: disaster loan at Cardiff City rakes up ‘lazy’ accusation towards player

Wilfried Kanga was granted a season-long loan from Hertha BSC to Cardiff City last summer, with no purchase option or commitment.

After spending the previous season on loan at Standard Liège, where he finished with 12 goals and three assists in 37 games, the striker joined the Championship team.

Kanga has not been able to duplicate his performance for Cardiff City in the Jupiler Pro League, failing to score or record an assist in 16 games.

The 26-year-old’s circumstances at the Welsh club are examined in Thursday’s edition of Der Tagesspiegel.

Since the end of October, the Ivory Coast international has only played 26 minutes in four games.

Pál Dárdai, the former manager of Hertha BSC, has previously accused Cardiff City of being “lazy” and not depending on him at the German team. According to the publication, Dárdai’s opinion of Kanga is now strengthened by his current situation with the Bluebirds.

The forward’s loan stint at Cardiff City has obviously been a complete bust, and he is probably going to return to Hertha BSC. Although Kanga’s contract with them is set to expire in 2026, the report claims that “he has no future” in Berlin.
