‘He has no future’ – Disaster loan at Cardiff City rakes up ‘lazy’ accusation towards player

Last summer, Hertha BSC allowed Wilfried Kanga to join Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal without any option or obligation to buy.

The striker joined the Championship side after spending last season on loan at Standard Liège, where he managed 12 goals and three assists from 37 games.

Kanga hasn’t managed to replicate his form for the Jupiler Pro League side at Cardiff City and has failed to score or register an assist from 16 matches.

Thursday’s edition of Der Tagesspiegel takes a look at the 26-year-old’s situation at the Welsh club.

The Ivory Coast international has been limited to 26 minutes from four games since the end of October.

Former Hertha BSC manager Pál Dárdai had accused the Cardiff City of being ‘lazy’ in the past and didn’t rely upon him at the German club. The newspaper claims Kanga situation with the Bluebirds now strengthens Dárdai’s assessment about him.

It’s clear the frontman’s loan spell at Cardiff City has been a disaster and he’s likely to return to Hertha BSC. Kanga’s contract with them lasts until 2026, but the report states ‘he has no future’ in Berlin.
