Evangelos Marinakis outlines Nottingham Forest’s ‘dream’ as secrets to success revealed

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, talks about the team’s pursuit of European qualifying.

For owner Evangelos Marinakis, Nottingham Forest’s return to the European elite would be “a

dream come true.”

The Reds are still in the running for the top spot in the Premier League standings at the midway

point of the season. Both teams are six points behind leaders Liverpool, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s

third-place team is tied with Arsenal.

If Forest can continue their strong play in the second half of the season, they have a good chance of qualifying for the

Champions League. And returning to play on the continent would be a huge accomplishment for a team with such a

rich history in Europe, most notably with Brian Clough’s Miracle Men, who won two European Cups.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Marinakis responded, “A dream come true,” when asked what the Reds’

European qualification would entail. You have to have faith in it because it does happen sometimes. To provide our

fans this happiness, we shall do everything in our power.

Marinakis expressed his desire to “bring back the glory days” to the City Ground when he purchased the team in

2017. He is thrilled with how this season is progressing, especially considering the team’s high standing in the Premier League standings.

He remarked, “It’s a great satisfaction that rewards our work.” “We were confident and reassured by the preseason

results, but the boys are surpassing our expectations. The younger and older athletes have a strong sense of

teamwork.

Marinakis is an ambitious man. He has enjoyed plenty of success with Olympiacos, where he has been at the helm

since 2010, and spoke last year about his “big dreams” for Forest.

He recently brought in Lina Souloukou as chief executive of the Reds, having previously worked with her at

Olympiacos. And the shipping magnate is convinced the appointment can help steer Forest to even greater heights.

Marinakis responded, “The work, choosing the right people to have alongside you and the fans,” when asked what

the key to his clubs’ success was. We are carried by our Greek people, but Nottingham has an amazing atmosphere as

well; you can feel the history of a European Cup-winning team in our stadium.”

“I worked with Lina at Olympiacos, so we know each other well,” he continued. She has extensive international

experience as a manager. I have no doubt that she will assist us in achieving our lofty objectives in Nottingham.
