Emmanuel Latte Lath told why he should stay at Middlesbrough this month with Gus Hamer example

Emmanuel Latte Lath is attracting interest from Premier League sides

Don Goodman has advised Emmanuel Latte Lath to hold off on thinking about leaving Middlesbrough until the end

of the current campaign, citing Gus Hamer as an example.

This month, Latte Lath is drawing Premier League interest. Although Boro is eager to hold onto their star striker for

the second half of the season, offers above £20 million are probably going to need to be considered carefully. West

Ham, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City have all reportedly expressed interest; however, West Ham recently fired

manager Julen Lopetegui, and Leicester has not yet contacted anyone.

Ipswich are expected to make another attempt to sign the Ivorian though, having seen a £20 million bid rejected in

the latter stages of the summer transfer window. Using the example of Hamer, who left Coventry City for Sheffield

United, only to find himself quickly back in the Championship, EFL expert Goodman believes Latte Lath is better

waiting until the summer and trying to achieve his Premier League ambition at Boro.

“Boro frustrate me a lot defensively, but Emmanuel Latte Lath must love playing in that team with all the chances

they create,” Goodman told Plejmo.com. He should remain at Middlesbrough, enjoy playing for Michael Carrick, and

concentrate on having a successful second half of the season, in my opinion. If Boro doesn’t improve, he can then

reevaluate his options in the summer.

“Let’s get it straight; Lath wouldn’t win a game at Ipswich Town. He will not drive out Liam Delap, who is in the air.

Therefore, there would be little advantage to such transfer unless he would be content to play an impact role off the

bench.

“He would be running the risk of what occurred to Gus Hamer, who joined Sheffield United when they were certain

to be fighting relegation from the Premier League, if he were given the choice and chose to join Ipswich. Emmanuel

Latte Lath should be aware that they lost the fight and that he is now back in the Championship even though, in my

opinion, he is too excellent for that level.”
