Dyche sack: Everton ‘succession planning’ as TFG stance on Mourinho emerges

Jacobs stated on talkSPORT on January 9 at 8:56 a.m. that although Mourinho, who managed Fenerbahce and collaborated with TFG at Roma, has not been contacted, a plot for Dyche’s exit is in motion. Gareth Southgate is the Toffees’ other top pick to succeed Dyche, whenever that time comes, after they lost out on Graham Potter, who was hired by West Ham on Thursday. “Obviously he knows The Friedkin Group from his time at Roma – it didn’t end on the best terms, but they have respect for Mourinho,” Jacobs stated, adding that he was unaware of any approach to Jose Mourinho.

“They are still evaluating Sean Dyche; at this point, succession planning is taking place instead of interviews, and we will have to wait and see if anything changes in the middle of the season.””I really think their top two choices were Gareth Southgate – who doesn’t want to take a job at the moment – and Graham Potter, who’s just gone to West Ham.” “At this point, I think [it’s] more likely that it will come at the end of the season, when Dyche’s contract expires, but if results don’t improve, they’re going to have to look at somebody.”

Everton is preparing for Sean Dyche’s exit.

Since 2025 is such a transitional year for the team, plans and options for a management change must be in place regardless of Dyche’s contract expiring this summer.Few supporters believe Dyche is the long-term fit for a new era, but it’s still uncertain if the Toffees’ move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock will also result in a changed direction on the field.

Even though their playing tactics may appear comparable in certain ways, Mourinho’s being mentioned and maybe hired represents a significant departure from Dyche’s siege mindset. Although it is unexpected that Southgate was chosen by the Blues’ new owners and the administrative team Friedkin imposed, he would not significantly alter Dyche’s setup. As the Toffees get closer to the relegation zone, Dyche’s cards seem to be marked on Merseyside. If form doesn’t improve, TFG might have to speak with Southgate or Mourinho sooner rather than later.
