According to multiple Italian reports, Enzo Le Fee’s transfer from Roma to Championship side Sunderland is now official.
The Frenchman is expected to join Sunderland on an initial loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy if the club is promoted to the Premier League at the end of the 2024-25 season, according to reports earlier on Wednesday afternoon.
How much will Sunderland pay to make Le Fee’s transfer from Roma permanent?
According to transfer analyst Gianluca Di Marzio, Sunderland would pay €23 million to make the move permanent if they finish in the top two or win promotion in the Championship play-offs this season.
This is the same cost (€23 million) that Roma paid to sign the 24-year-old from Rennes during the summer transfer window.
The Black Cats presently lie fourth in the Championship table, nine points ahead of Middlesbrough in fifth. They are only three points off the league lead.
A move to Sunderland will reunite Le Fee and coach Regis Le Bris, who worked together at Ligue 1 club Lorient during the 2022-23 season.
