Cyriel Dessers Cagliari latest as transfer suitors pull out and Rangers target £2.4m alternative

The 30-year-old Nigerian international striker has scored 12 goals this season, but he is now benched because Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane has emerged. Although the former Feyenoord forward has scored goals for Rangers on occasion, Cyriel Dessers has frequently fallen short in crucial situations at Ibrox. According to Italian reports, Rangers are reportedly looking at an African alternative as Serie A shows increasing interest in the striker.

Cagliari wants Cyriel Dessers

Just eighteen months after Rangers paid £4.5 million to sign Dessers from Italian team Cremonese, the striker is being prepared to return to Italy. Davide Nicola, the manager of Cagliari, has his sights set on signing Cyriel Dessers, a striker for Rangers, according to Centro Trentuno, an Italian publication. The future of Gianluca Lapadula, an Italian-Peruvian talisman, is at the “top of the list of departures” from Cagliari. According to reports, Kingstone Mutandwa, a striker for Zambia, has an uncertain future. According to reports, Cagliari sporting director Nereo Bonato witnessed Rangers thwart a summer transfer attempt to sign Cyriel Dessers as injuries ravaged the Ibrox team.

According to the Italian report, Cagliari would be interested in signing a loan agreement now that Danilo and Hamza Igamane are back in the fold. Naturally, there are alternatives to Cyriel Dessers, such as Italian-German forward Nicolò Tresoldi, but Hannover is reportedly difficult to handle. Curiously, the report also asserts that Saint Etienne’s connections to Cyriel Dessers were brief, as the Ligue 1 team withdrew from the competition because of financial difficulties.

Iqraam Rayners is the target of Rangers.

Returning to Italy might provide Cyriel Dessers with a respite from the demands of life at Ibrox, as he is undoubtedly out of form and favor at Rangers. Although the Nigerian striker, who was born in Belgium, is a positive person and a pleasant addition to the team, Rangers supporters have grown accustomed to watching the striker pass during important games. The striker was substituted out at halftime in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Motherwell, his only start in that run of games, leaving Dessers without a goal in seven games.

If Cagliari makes a move for Cyriel Dessers this month, Rangers also seem to have found a replacement in South African striker Iqraam Rayners. Rangers have been linked to Rayners, 29, who has been playing brilliantly for Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa this season. Rayners, a 13-goal striker, has reportedly been “enquired” by Rangers, with Mamelodi Sundowns requesting about £2.4 million for the striker’s services.
