Ipswich Town have struck a £20 million agreement to sign Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene. The 22-year-old is scheduled for a physical at Portman Road, which will conclude his brief six-month comeback to Villa Park. Philogene also had European attention, including from La Liga, but Ipswich are set to abandon their pursuit of the England Under-21 international, with manager Kieran McKenna’s influence being important. Ipswich agreed a cost of around £18 million with Hull in the summer, only for Villa to exercise their buy-back option after selling Philogene to the Tigers in 2023. Hull gained approximately £13.5 million since Villa included a 30% sell-on clause in the agreement.

After rejoining Unai Emery’s team, he made only four starts, including one against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and 11 substitute appearances. Ipswich kept their interest, and they have now persuaded Philogene, who was interested in working with McKenna last summer, to relocate to Suffolk. The Tractor Boys, currently 18th in the Premier League, are trying to strengthen their team as they fight for survival, and have already signed defender Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta.
