Sunderland youngster agrees loan extension until end of season, he’s enjoying ‘good period’ away from club
Sunderland is currently leading the Championship standings, and it is thought that one or two astute additions made during the January transfer window might significantly impact the outcome of the title contest. For the upcoming months, Regis Le Bris will be focusing on his first team and the players at his disposal, but Sunderland players on loan are still crucial. The good news is that one Sunderland youth talent will continue to develop at his loan club till the end of the season, according to the most recent update.
Until the conclusion of the season, Caden Kelly will remain at Darlington.
According to a statement on the club’s official website, Caden Kelly will remain at Darlington FC until the conclusion of the current season. After joining the National League North team in October, the 21-year-old has been playing well in the first half of the season, scoring three goals in 14 games thus far.
With Darlington, he will now have the opportunity to close off the season in style before heading back to Sunderland in the summer. “Caden has had a really good period,” stated Robin Nicholls, Academy Manager. We are pleased that he is extending his tenure and continuing to contribute to Darlington because he has given some excellent performances.
For Caden Kelly, the upcoming season could be crucial.
Caden Kelly, 21, is getting on in years and may have lost his opportunity to make an impact at Sunderland given the ridiculous standards of the present team. It’s difficult to envision Kelly taking the required steps to catch up to players like Chris Rigg (17) and Jobe Bellingham (19), who are already regulars in the first team under Le Bris, and Kelly mixing it up four divisions below them.
What is decided for Kelly in the summer will determine a lot. As a logical next step, one would think a loan move to League One or League Two is imminent, but by then, the Black Cats will have most likely dropped him. It’s difficult to envision a scenario in which Kelly has a future on Wearside, particularly if they keep going in the same direction and, in fact, if Sunderland stays on course for promotion.
