Sheffield United Eyeing Woolfenden

TWTD understands Sheffield United have renewed their interest in Blues central defender Luke Woolfenden.

The Blades were previously interested in Woolfenden in January 2020, during manager Chris Wilder’s first season at Bramall Lane in the Premier League, but the Blues made it clear he was not for sale.

The 26-year-old, a crucial member of the back-to-back promotion teams, has returned to the Town squad for the last three games after being out of favour for much of the first part of the season following the arrival of Dara O’Shea.

However, the Blues welcomed another defender, Ben Godfrey, to their squad on loan from Atalanta earlier this week, with the twice-capped England international capable of playing either right-back or right centre-back, similar to Axel Tuanzebe, who is close to returning from a hamstring injury.

We understand that the Championship’s third-placed side has yet to make an approach, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues will consider a permanent or loan offer for the academy product, who is committed until the summer but has an option for a further season.
