Jota to End Celtic Return Rumours – Report
The winger has reportedly been informed he can leave French Ligue 1 side Rennes, with Turkish outfit Besiktas keen on securing the 25-year-old winger on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The Portuguese playmaker, who once dazzled fans at Celtic Park, has endured a turbulent time since his £25 million move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
After being sidelined to non-league appearances at Al-Ittihad, Jota secured a move to Rennes in the hope of reigniting his career. However, his time in France has been underwhelming, and he now looks set for another move in search of regular football.
According to Turkish outlet Ortacizgi, Besiktas have expressed interest in bringing Jota to the Super Lig.
The move would provide Jota with a fresh start in a new league, potentially giving him the platform to rediscover the form that made him a key player during Celtic’s treble-winning campaign under Ange Postecoglou.
Despite online speculation linking Jota with a return to Celtic Park this January, such a move was always unlikely.
The reports were endless and gave many fans false hope, without any reason. There was never any indication that the player even had the option of a Celtic return.
A loan move to Turkey could provide the winger with a valuable opportunity to rebuild his confidence and secure regular game time. At just 25, Jota still has plenty to offer, and a successful stint with Besiktas could pave the way for a permanent move or a revival of his career in European football.
