Former Sheffield Wednesday favourite in court accused of assault and affray reports

Jordan Storey, a former loanee for Sheffield Wednesday, has reportedly entered a not guilty plea to charges of affray

and assault at Preston Crown Court.

The 27-year-old, who had a great stint with the Owls in 2022, just agreed to a new contract with Preston North End,

his current team, which will keep him there until 2028.

But this week, Storey has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. According to reports in the media, including our

sister publication, the Lancashire Post, he appeared in court on January 6th and was charged with assault causing

actual bodily harm and affray involving Tomas Whatmough on January 14th. He entered a not guilty plea to both

charges.

According to reports, the trial was originally due to take place in 2026 but has been now been brought forward under

the expedited trial scheme and scheduled for May 6th 2025, three days after Preston’s regular Championship season

is due to come to an end away at Bristol City.

Paul Heckingbottom, Storey’s manager and former Owl, spoke about him when he signed his new contract, saying,

“Jordan has been brilliant for us since we came in, so I’m delighted for us and for him that he’s extended his stay here.”

“I think the supporters will have seen over the years how valuable he can be in our backline, and he’s a defender I

really loved before I joined the club… I’m excited to collaborate with Jordan more and watch him grow because he’s a

good guy as well.

Although Preston has not yet commented on the defender’s court appearance, Blog Preston published information

on Monday.
