Former Sheffield Wednesday favourite in court accused of assault and affray.
Jordan Storey, a former Sheffield Wednesday loanee, has allegedly pleaded not guilty to assault and affray charges at Preston Crown Court.
The 27-year-old, who had a great period with the Owls in 2022, just signed a new contract with his current club, Preston North End, which will keep him with them until 2028.
But Storey has made headlines for the wrong reasons this week, after it was reported in the media – including our sister title, the Lancashire Post – that he appeared in court on January 6th facing charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray involving Tomas Whatmough on January 14th, charges to which he has pleaded not guilty.
According to sources, the trial was initially set for 2026 but has been moved ahead under the accelerated trial process to May 6th, 2025, three days after Preston’s regular Championship season ends away at Bristol City.
Speaking about Storey after he signed his new contract, his manager – and former Owl – Paul Heckingbottom stated, “Jordan’s been fantastic for us since we came in, so I’m delighted for us and him that he’s extended his stay here.”
“He’s a defender I admired before joining the club, and I believe the fans have seen throughout the years how essential he can be in our backline.
Jordan’s also a nice guy, so I’m forward to work with him more and watch how he grows.”
