Exclusive: 49ers considering a shock Leeds United bid for Middlesbrough star this month

Leeds United has been linked with players from all over the world during the January transfer window thus far. However, the Whites may conduct some domestic business, with Premier League and Championship players on their radar.

Previously, Daniel Farke stated that Leeds United will stay quiet in January. However, following two frustrating draws against beatable opponents in Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, Farke may have to break his word.

Almost certainly, there will be one or two signings at Elland Road. However, given Leeds’ dismal form, Farke’s transfer priorities may shift, or the club’s owners may allocate more funds to player signings.

So far, at least 19 fresh players have been connected to Leeds. There are players from all positions linked with moves to Elland Road, with the custodian post being somewhat contested following Illan Meslier’s horrific performance against Hull the last time out.

On the other end of the pitch, few strikers have been associated. However, Leeds United News can now name one striker who is coveted by Farke and the 49ers.

Leeds United are mulling an offer for Middlesbrough star Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Leeds United News understands that the club is seeking for a new number nine in January, and Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath is one player they are interested in and considering a bid for.

Although there is strong Premier League interest in him, West Ham, Ipswich, and Leicester City are among those looking. Latte Lath, 26, scored 16 goals in 30 Championship appearances for Boro last season. This season, the Ivorian has ten goals in 26 league games, matching Leeds’ leading scorer Joel Piroe.

Latte Lath joined Middlesbrough from Atalanta in a £4.2 million deal last summer. He is under contract at the Riverside until 2027, with Middlesbrough having the option to extend it by another year.

Leeds United is also eyeing another Championship star.

Latte Lath is only one of the White Sox’ Championship hopefuls. Leeds United News has reported that Coventry City’s Ben Sheaf is a target for Leeds United.

Other second-tier stars have been linked with a transfer to Elland Road in the run-up to January, notably Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, though a deal for him has never appeared feasible given that both Sheffield United and Leeds are striving for promotion.

Burnley’s Josh Brownhill and Mike Tresor have also been mentioned. However, like Hamer, they are unlikely to visit Leeds in January.
