Everton want to sign the leading assist maker in the Championship and he’s seriously quick.

Everton are looking to strengthen this month, with the squad in real need of new faces.

There is substantial work to be done by new owners. The Friedkin Group, with Everton now one point above the relegation zone. Everton’s performance against Bournemouth on Saturday was one of the poorest of the season thus far, with the club failing to register a single shot on target. Bournemouth fans mocked Everton’s style of play under Sean Dyche, and it’s evident that significant adjustments are needed moving forward. Fans will hope that changes will occur throughout the transfer window, with attacking players on the agenda.

And it looks like Everton could be targeting an exciting player from the Championship.

The Daily Mail claimed this morning (January 6, print edition, page 10) that Everton and Crystal Palace are interested in signing Tom Fellows from West Bromwich Albion. Fellows is currently having a really fruitful season in the Championship. He now leads the assists chart with 10 for the season and has generated 32 chances, giving him a chances created per 90 figure of 1.66 (source: BBC Sport). Of course, one of Everton’s main concerns right now is being productive in the last third. Chris Sutton lambasted Everton after realising they’d only scored 15 Premier League goals this season, and too many of the attacking players have been well below the standards expected.
