What Leeds United sources are saying about new links with Hoffenheim striker Mergim Berisha

Leeds would have a quiet window, according to Daniel Farke, but later reports indicate otherwise. Leeds is reportedly looking to add four players, and the Whites are still frequently connected to new players. Mergim Berisha, a two-time Germany star, was linked to Leeds this week. Due to a severe knee injury and a subsequent lack of playing time, the Hoffenheim star has been having difficulty regaining his form.

The German team decided to approve a loan move for Berisha this month after she only scored one goal in 24 appearances since joining Hoffenheim. Berisha himself has switched agencies in an attempt to find a move. Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson, who played with Berisha in Salzburg under Jesse Marsch, are familiar with this guy. Since then, he has played for Hoffenheim, Augsburg, and Fenerbahce.

Leeds may start looking for a striker in January, while Wrexham and Genoa are interested in Patrick Bamford. While overseas clubs are inquiring about Joe Gelhardt, Gelhardt is eager to leave Leeds. Leeds will need a replacement if they lose both, and Berisha is one striker who has been linked to a move along with Louie Barry and Dor Turgeman. The club has been questioned by the YEP for its ties to Berisha. According to a Monday night story in the Evening Post, Leeds has “dismissed” the rumors that the club is linked to the Hoffenheim star, calling them rumors and speculation while likely keeping a quiet window.

It wouldn’t be the first time Leeds and the German team have done business in recent years if Leeds were to attempt to sign Berisha. Naturally, the Whites signed Georginio Rutter for a club-record price. Leeds initially paid Hoffenheim £25 million for Rutter, with an additional £10 million paid in add-ons. After making an impression at Hoffenheim and becoming a regular, Rutter struggled at first but later excelled for Leeds. Would Leeds benefit from acquiring a player who, unlike Rutter’s tenure at Hoffenheim, is having difficulty starting for a team fighting relegation in Germany’s top division? Most likely not, since Berisha would only have a brief stay at Leeds.
