West Brom could damage Blackburn Rovers promotion chances on one big condition
West Bromwich Albion are still in the market for a new manager following the departure of Carlos Corberan last month, who left to take up a new role at Valencia.
The Baggies are in the second part of the season and must move quickly to get a new manager in place or risk losing their play-off spot, which they are presently clinging to.
According to talkSPORT, the Baggies have a special place in their hearts for Blackburn Rovers, one of the teams in the chase, and their manager, John Eustace.
West Brom supporters will quickly point out that they’re likely more prepared to return to the Premier League than the Lancashire club, even though it will be difficult to finalise a deal to acquire the manager of one of their direct promotion opponents.
Rovers supporters won’t be sleeping easy over this latest development because Eustace’s stock has probably never been higher than it is now. They will also know that keeping him is probably crucial to their chances of being promoted this season.
Blackburn’s promotion hopes could unravel if John Eustace leaves
The news that West Brom is interested in Eustace will not have gone over well with Blackburn supporters, who will know full well that holding onto him is their best chance of placing in the top six.
Failure to retain him would result in the arrival of a new manager in the middle of the season, each with their own ideas and preferred style of play, none of which is likely to be comparable to their current manager.
Eustace has said that Rovers aren’t the best team in the division and that competing against opponents week after week isn’t the best method to succeed. He has succeeded where Jon Dahl Tomasson failed.
Without the riches of their fellow promotion chasers, the Blackburn boss has made the best of what he’s got at Ewood Park and has made his side incredibly tough to beat.
That’s been their blueprint to winning games, and for someone to come in mid-season if he left and potentially rip all that up, it would be a blow that they would probably never recover from.
Blackburn’s loss wouldn’t necessarily be West Brom’s gain
Although West Brom will be envious of Eustace’s success at Ewood Park, which is why he has been hailed for the position, it might not be as advantageous to hire him in the middle of the season.
West Brom must be worried about a similar situation if they decide to hire the Rovers manager because Eustace took over at Blackburn halfway through the 23–24 season and had, to put it mildly, an unimpressive record.

Ultimately, he barely kept Blackburn in the top six last season, but his team has really taken off this year after a full
preseason. West Brom won’t have the luxury of spending a lot of time on the pitch. Eustice has undoubtedly laid the
foundation for his team to start playing well at Ewood Park, and his departure could be disastrous for their chances
of ever making it into the top six.
