Update reveals Blackburn Rovers’ chances of signing Norwich City man

Grant Hanley, the Norwich City centre-back, is allegedly unlikely to re-sign with Blackburn Rovers during current transfer window.

The Lancashire Telegraph assessed the likelihood of this deal occurring.

According to Alan Nixon, the Rovers were interested in signing Hanley during the January transfer window, as John Eustace sought defensive cover.

Hanley, 33, began his professional career at Ewood Park and played until 2016, when he was signed by Newcastle United.

After a disappointing time at St James’ Park, the Scotsman moved to Norwich in 2017 and has been there ever since.

The center defender has played in both the Premier League and the Championship, and he has been a solid servant in Norfolk, despite occasional criticism for his performances.

Following criticism for his performance against Oxford United on the first day of the season, he has not started any league games since.

Blackburn Rovers’ chances to sign Grant Hanley.

Rovers might profit from adding a centre-back during this window.

However, with the experienced Danny Batth and Kyle McFadzean already at Ewood Park, the Lancashire Telegraph reckons a transfer for Hanley is unlikely this window, especially with Hayden Carter’s injury in mind.

That is because he is unlikely to agree to a short-term contract, and his salaries may also be a deterrent to this possible signing.

This might enable Sheffield United, who have also been connected, to move in and sign him.

Blackburn Rovers may discover a viable replacement to Grant Hanley.

Reading star Tyler Bindon, who is known to be a target for Rovers, may be a better fit.

He only has six months remaining on his contract, and although being just 19, he has a good amount of experience.

He has a lot of promise and might be sold for a good price in the future.

The athlete has just six months remaining on his contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, so a reasonable agreement may be negotiated.

However, this may depend on if there is a bidding war for him.
