Former Reading youngsters Nelson Abbey and Dom Ballard have been recalled by Olympiacos and Southampton respectively from their EFL loan deals.
Abbey, a Reading Academy graduate who rose to prominence last season before moving to Greece in January, appeared once in the EFL Cup for Swansea City before being called up by the European champions last week.
Born and reared in the area, the center defender has returned to the Select Car Leasing Stadium several times to support his hometown team due to limited game time in South Wales.
Meanwhile, Ballard was on loan in Berkshire last season, but a season-ending injury limited his influence to five goals in 12 games from August to November.
The 19-year-old joined Blackpool in the summer and scored once in 22 outings before being recalled by the relegation-threatened Saints.
According to reports, Abbey, 21, will be loaned out again in the second half of the season, although more playing experience is required to further his professional development.
It remains to be seen what Southampton, under a new management, will do with England Under-20s star Ballard.
Deadline Day for Premier League, EFL, and Scottish clubs is Monday, February 3 at 11 p.m.
