Reading FC boss addresses fresh Paul Taylor takeover talk
Amid rumours of a buyout by real estate magnate Paul Taylor, Reading manager Noel Hunt has acknowledged that he is not aware of any developments regarding a much-needed club acquisition.
The Royals have been on sale for more than a year, and American Rob Couhig nearly bought them. However, the former Wycombe Wanderers manager is now suing Dai Yongge and the team for infringement of exclusivity and revenue loss.
However, Taylor, “a bricklayer turned banker and financier from South London,” is spearheading an acquisition attempt right now, according to news reported in the Sun on Saturday.
Reading stated in their most recent statement that negotiations with an unidentified party are still ongoing.
When questioned about any off-field developments after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic, Hunt was unable to provide any specifics.
The former striker-turned-manager stated, “I’ve kept our heads down and told the guys that there will be news when there is news.” “We’re crossing our fingers for some positive news as the year comes to a close.
“The guys have scored 10 out of 12 points in the last nine days, which is fantastic and demonstrates how cohesive and strong we are as a team. Look at the group if you want to attend and participate. We can do things with this unique bunch, so it’s critical that we keep everyone together.”
There are concerns that player sales will be made to finance the club in the near future because the January transfer window is still open. However, as fifth-place Reading continues to contend for promotion into 2025, Hunt and Head of Recruitment Brian Carey are working hard to make sure the impact is as small as possible.
