Dog walker flown to Southampton after lorry collision.
A DOG walker was critically injured after an accident with a vehicle that killed his dog.
The incident happened shortly before 7.30 a.m. on Route Des Laurens, the primary route that connects the Mallard Centre to Torteval Church.
It was raining and there were heavy winds in the region.
The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was promptly sent to the hospital by ambulance. Later that day, he was airlifted to Southampton.
The road was closed for many hours as expert investigators carried out the first steps of an accident investigation. It eventually opened just before noon.
A further incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred nearly simultaneously at the crossroads of Les Baissieres and Rue du Friquet in Castel, prompting police and St John Ambulance to respond.
One guy was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, believed to be a fractured ankle, and the road reopened before 8 a.m.
Police would want to contact with anybody who observed the crash on Route Des Laurens or knows anything about what occurred.
