According to Football Insider, Coventry City midfielder Kai Andrews is set to have a medical before joining Motherwell on loan.
Coventry City has approved the Scottish Premiership side’s temporary proposal for the youngster. They have until the end of the January transfer window to complete any incoming or departing commercial transactions.
Andrews, 18, has spent his whole career with the Championship outfit, rising through their academy ranks. He has previously participated at a variety of young levels.
According to Football Insider, he has ‘accepted’ to join Motherwell. He has never been loaned out by the Sky Blues and is keen to demonstrate his abilities in Scotland.
Coventry City lost 2-1 to Norwich City at Carrow Road in their last game.
Coventry City is considering a loan exit.
A move to Scotland will provide Andrews with a valuable learning opportunity.
In August 2023, he made his Coventry City debut in a league win over Middlesbrough.
The adolescent returned to play for the Sky Blues in the most recent season.
Andrews hasn’t played for them yet this season, and his chances of seeing senior football between now and the summer under Frank Lampard are minimal, which is why an exit is on the cards.
He signed his first professional contract with Coventry City 12 months ago, which runs until 2026.
According to CoventryLive, the Wales youth international stated, “It’s an unbelievable moment and it’s everything I’ve been working towards since joining the club as a youth player six years ago.” I’m grateful to all of the Academy’s personnel and the first team for assisting me in getting here, and it’s truly an incredible occasion.
“There have been numerous ups and downs. There were times when I struggled to make the squad and gain minutes, but I never gave up.
What happens now?
If his contract is finalised, Andrews will seek to break into Motherwell’s starting lineup.
Coventry City will face Sheffield Wednesday at home in the FA Cup third round this weekend.
