Blackburn fined £35,000 due to crowd misconduct
In March, Blackburn Rovers played Ipswich Town in the Championship. For their misbehaviour over crowd management, they were warned and fined £35,000.
The club was accused of failing to make sure that its supporters behaved in a civilised manner, did not use foul language or act inappropriately, and did not hurl missiles or other potentially hazardous things at the pitch.
The Blackburn fan who hurled a bottle and yelled obscenities at assistant referee Paul Hodskinson was facing charges that the club acknowledged.
The club’s stewards permitted the supporter to leave without being identified, which resulted in the penalties, according to reports from an independent regulatory authority.
