BBC Sports Lewis Dobbin’s estimated weekly wages at Aston Villa after West Brom, Norwich City loan switch.
Lewis Dobbin, an Aston Villa forward, has joined Norwich City on loan for the rest of the season after being recalled from West Bromwich Albion.
Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup will be looking to bolster his squad this month after a mixed start to life in Norfolk, and Norwich might yet make a late run for the play-offs if they get things right in January. The 21-year-old winger/striker joined Villa for £10 million from Everton in the summer. However, Dobbin was immediately loaned to the Baggies, where he made 17 appearances, only one of which came as a starter. He struggled for game time under both Carlos Corberan and was unable to add a single goal or assist for the West Midlands team. In early January, The Athletic broke the news that the winger was to have his spell at The Hawthorns terminated in order to make the switch to Thorup’s side.

Aston Villa’s Lewis Dobbin’s wages amid switch to Norwich City
Dobbin was left out of Albion’s matchday squad for their 3-1 home win over Preston North End on New Year’s Day, before joint-caretaker manager Chris Brunt announced that the two clubs had reached an agreement to end the loan. After such limited playing time with the Baggies, Dobbin will be eager to continue his development, but he will face stiff competition from the in-form Borja Sainz at Carrow Road. Given Dobbin’s limited playing time at West Brom, Aston Villa’s decision to move him elsewhere in the league should come as no surprise. However, Sainz’s presence down the left may indicate that he is not playing as much for Thorup’s side as he was with Albion.
Despite his recent big money trade from Everton to Villa, Dobbin is not a major expense. According to Capology, Dobbin receives an estimated gross salary of £416,000 per year, or £8,000 per week, minus bonuses.
