Next West Brom manager: Former Birmingham City and Stoke City men front-runners
A list of potential contenders to replace Carlos Corberan at West Bromwich Albion has emerged.
West Brom are still managerless and searching for a new head coach following Corberan’s departure to Valencia on December 24.

The joint interim team of Chris Brunt and Damia Abella has been leading Albion for the past few weeks but it’s not a solution that can realistically go on for much longer. It’s important the Baggies make the right call as to who comes in, so it’s understandable that the process is taking considerable time.

Results haven’t been catastrophic in the wake of Corberan’s exit as West Brom have won one, drawn two and lost one – but important points have been dropped. The 2-1 defeat away at Derby County on Boxing Day hurt, the 1-1 draw at Sheffield United was a triumph, the 3-1 victory over Preston North End was a boost and the 1-1 draw against Swansea was a little disappointing.

John Eustace, Raphael Wicky and Steven Schumacher are among the Sky Bet favourites to take on the West Brom manager's job.

The last of those opponents, the Swans, recently had their head coach linked heavily with the Albion vacancy. Luke Williams emerged as the clear favourite at the end of December and start of January – and the 44-year-old refused to rule himself out of the running – but that story has since been cooled.

Other contenders have since emerged, however there’s yet to be any credible reports confirming talks with any. Birmingham World understands the search has broadened to Europe – as Albion are not concerned by experience in English football – but no names have been thrown into the public eye just yet.

Next West Brom manager favourites

Sky Bet have been regularly updating their market for the next Albion boss, in line with various updates and speculation. Raphael Wicky, most recently head coach of Swiss giants Young Boys, has emerged as the favourite.

Former Birmingham City and current Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace comes in at second, while ex-Stoke City and Plymouth Argyle man Steven Schumacher is third. Here’s the full list.
