Southampton set to hold January transfer meeting on Tuesday
Juric’s side is 10 points from safety, eight points behind Leicester City in 19th place, and have won only one of their
20 Premier League games.
Former manager Russell Martin intimated that he needed results over the holiday season to persuade the Saints
board to aid him in the market.
Saints have lost every game since then, with Martin losing his job following the 5-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham
Hotspur on December 15.
It means club bosses will surely be fiscally preparing for the Championship return, rather than going all out on a
punt for potential survival.
Juric confirmed that the Saints want to return loanee Maxwel Cornet to West Ham, if the Hammers agree to do so
after not playing in the league since September.
“That’s the idea that he goes back to West Ham,” Juric stated, which was misinterpreted at the time as confirmation
that the transaction had already been cancelled.
If his loan is terminated, Saints will have the opportunity to re-enter the Premier League loan market, as teams are
only allowed two spaces at a time.
Juric’s coaching links in the Italian Serie A might help Saints bring in up to five foreign players on loan or register.
