Issa Kabore: Bundesliga club ‘agree’ deal to sign Man City defender after nightmare loan

Kabore formerly played for Mechelen, Troyes, and Marseille before joining Luton Town on loan for 24 Premier League matches last season.

However, Kabore has been dissatisfied by his lack of senior football at Benfica, with the attack-minded right-back making only two starts and five substitute appearances in all competitions.

The Burkina Faso international has only appeared for eight minutes in three Primeira Liga substitute appearances, with his only two starts coming against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League and lower-league Portuguese side Pevidem in the Taca de Portugal.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man City and Benfica have agreed to shorten Kabore’s loan term, allowing Bundesliga club Werder Bremen to join the defender on a temporary basis for the rest of the season.

Kabore will undergo a physical before joining the German team. He will play as a wing-back in Ole Werner’s 3-5-2 system, competing with Mitchell Weiser and Felix Agu for starting spots.
