When Ruben Amorim was appointed manager of Manchester United, it was clear that a number of players from his old club Sporting CP would be connected with a move to the English club, and this is proving to be true.

This was primarily due to two factors: Erik ten Hag had done this repeatedly throughout his tenure as Red Devils manager, and the fans had grown accustomed to it; and Sporting CP boasts one of Europe’s most talented youth squads.

Quenda played extensively for Amorim at Sporting and understands what it takes to play at the wing-back position in the Portuguese tactician’s 3-4-3 formation. Despite being left-footed, he has frequently been deployed on either wing.

The 17-year-old is under contract with the Portuguese club until 2027 and is thought to have a release clause worth roughly £83 million (100 million euros).

However, A Bola adds that Sporting CP is willing to negotiate and part ways with him for £49.8 million (60 million euros).

Quenda is regarded as one of Portugal’s most gifted young players, and he is expected to achieve tremendous success. However, one questions whether Manchester United can afford to spend this much money on a teenager.

One advantage here is that if Amorim wants Quenda at Manchester United, he will know exactly how to get the most out of the player.

Let us wait and see if the club will approve a transfer for the youth, and only time will tell how things turn out.
