Brock Bowers turns heads with comments about Antonio Pierce

The Las Vegas Raiders concluded the 2024 season with a 4-13 record, despite entering the season with bigger expectations than the reality of their franchise position. Antonio Pierce is another potential contender to be dismissed among NFL head coaches, with a decision expected in the coming days.

While fans and analysts anticipate Pierce will be fired by the team, players such as standout rookie tight end Brock Bowers appear to prefer Pierce as coach, as he stated in a postgame interview when asked how he felt about his head coach. “I really liked AP as a head coach,” Bowers recalled of Pierce. “Let’s see what happens.” I am aware that decisions are made, and they are the responsibility of others rather than ourselves.

So I have no control over that. But I truly enjoyed playing for him, and I thought he was an excellent coach. While the tight end’s statement appears sincere, supporters pointed out that he used past-tense phrases like “I thought he was a great coach” and “I really liked AP as a head coach.”

The Raider Nation appears to believe that the players are privy to information that has yet to be made public. “Lots of past tense there,” one fan noted of the tight end’s remarks. “That man is speaking in the past tense,” said another fan, referring to Bowers’ statements. “Liked? Thought? Another user observed the tight end’s word choice.

“Dude is speaking in the past tense, as if he already knows AP is gone.” “IJS,” one admirer hypothesised after reading his quote. Pierce has been widely criticised by fans throughout the season for the team’s inability to win games, although eventually winning back-to-back games late in the season, which damaged their draft position.

It makes you wonder if the Raider Nation is on to something, or if Bowers simply chose a different set of words than expected.
