Breaking news John Eustace to West Brom: Sky Sports comms share live Blackburn exit update.

Blackburn Rovers have released a “adamant” update on manager John Eustace amid speculation over the West Brom vacancy, according to Sky Sports analyst Gary Weaver.

The Baggies are now looking for a new manager after Carlos Corberan left for Valencia late last month, having previously worked with Wolves and Southampton. Swansea manager Luke Williams has already responded after being connected with the post, and Eustace is one name that has been mentioned as a potential successor at The Hawthorns (talkSPORT, January 1, 13:13). Currently, it appears like West Brom have yet to make a bid to grab him from their Championship opponents.

Speaking on the Blackburn manager while commentating on their 1-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday (4 January) on Sky Sports (12:58), Weaver stated: “He has been associated with other roles elsewhere, which Blackburn Rovers are aware of. He is being linked with a return to the West Midlands with West Bromwich Albion, but Blackburn Rovers maintain no approaches have been made as of before kick-off. “But they do know that the more John Eustace gets the best out of this team those rumours will get stronger.”

Blackburn Rovers will not want to lose John Eustace to West Brom

Eustace has done a fantastic job since taking over at Ewood Park in February of last year, replacing Jon Dahl Tomasson. Having saved Blackburn from relegation last season, he now has them vying with West Brom for a place in the Championship play-offs.

West Brom
It would therefore be a loss for them to lose a head coach who appears to have gotten them back on track again. By the same token, it may be a beneficial appointment for the Baggies if they find someone who has demonstrated his ability to get teams to contend for a top six berth. West Brom would have to pay compensation because Eustace is under contract with Blackburn, which is another factor they will have to consider. Indeed, they will no doubt be considering alternative choices, and many at Ewood Park will hope that one of those is chosen instead.
