Michel Ange Balikwisha to Celtic path cleared by Antwerp ‘cooperation’ as Luis Palma transfer fee ‘named’

According to reports, Michel-Ange Balikwisha will be allowed to depart Royal Antwerp this month in the wake of renewed rumors that he would move to Celtic. Before an injury put a stop to any hopes of a move to Celtic Park, the winger was linked to the Scottish Premiership winners last summer. However, as he tries to increase competition for Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn, Brendan Rodgers appears to still have a high priority for a new wide player this summer.

With 18 months left on his contract, Antwerp is reportedly eager to sell Balikwisha this month for almost £5 million. The 23-year-old returned from injury in Belgium prior to the winter break.According to Gazet van Antwerpen, the Belgian squad is “prepared to cooperate” with the forward over his departure and is eager to recover a price so that sports director Marc Overmars may invest in other areas of the team this month. Notably, Stade Rennes and the Hoops have both demonstrated “concrete interest” in recent months. But thus far in this window, they haven’t tried to sign the player.

If Balikwisha shows up at Celtic Park, it might make it easier for Luis Palma to leave. After being demoted to a supporting role during his second season at the club, the Honduran has only made ten appearances across all competitions this season. With James Forrest presently out due to injury and proposals from Germany and France already rejected, Celtic are not in a rush to sell the out-of-favor player, according to El Heraldo. According to them, Palma has been valued at £3.3 million this month.
