West Brom eye move for Rangers defender Adam Devin

West Bromwich Albion are looking to sign Rangers defender Adam Devine in the January transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon account on 5 January that the Baggies are looking to sign the 21-year-old right-back who is out of contract in the summer window.

West Brom are looking to bolster their back line, and keen to strike a “bargain” deal for the player.

The Baggies are currently without a manager. Carlos Corberan left the club last month to join Spanish club Valencia FC, and West Brom are not in a rush to appoint a new manager.

It appears that they are still looking to carry on with their plans of adding depth to the squad and could move for Devine in the coming weeks.

West Brom are sixth in the Championship, with 40 points, and they are aiming to reach the play-offs this season.

The recent form has been disappointing, as they picked up only three wins from their last 11 games in the Championship. They are missing several key players, and the club desperately need to make a few signings this month.

Adam Devine would be a smart signing for West Brom

Devine is a product of the Rangers academy and made his first senior appearance in 2021. He featured prominently under former Gers manager Michael Beale and made eight appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.

The right-back has made 10 senior appearances for the Gers until now and has spent time on Partick Thistle, Brechin City, and Motherwell on loans.

He is not in Philippe Clement’s plans, and Rangers will be more than happy to offload him for a measly fee. It’s a win-win situation for all parties involved.

West Brom have Darnell Furlong as the only recognised right-back in the squad, and they need another back-up option.

The 29-year-old full-back is arguably one of the best right-backs in the Championship, and it won’t be easy for Devine to dislodge him from the starting line-up. However, he can establish himself as a reliable back-up option.
